Associa Tip of the Month

Tips for Caring for Your Plants in the Hot Summer Heat:

  • Help those plants look their best!
    • Check your irrigation weekly
      • In Sahuarita’s 100 + degree heat, it is important to make sure drip lines are not clogged or crimped.
      • Drip lines can also get buried and may not allow for proper irrigation.  To help prevent this, it is best to have the end of the lines above the ground by a few inches.
      • Our intense Arizona sun can also damage the plastic drip lines, so it is smart to check for splits and cracks.
    • Watch for leaks
      • You’ll also want to make sure that you don’t have a leak or break that allows for pooling water that might attract wildlife and bugs.
    • Watch your timers
      • Monsoon storms are here, which can be a good thing, but they can also cause power outages for irrigation clocks and times.  Be sure to check if you have recently lost power to make sure the system is not under-watering or over-watering.
    • BONUS TIP: Also, remember if it’s hot for the plants, it is also hot for the critters. They will be looking for water too. Stay safe and stay smart!
      • Be smart and be aware when venturing outside. Snakes and other animals will look for shelter in addition to hydration, so be sure to watch your step and make sure your little ones are safe outdoors too!
