Healthy Living Made Easy

Last month, our Healthy Living Lecture series for 2016 kicked off. Our staff nutritionist and Registered Dietitian, Sarah Marrs, shared tips and tricks to make realistic and sustainable lifestyle changes to live a healthier lifestyle. She also demonstrated how to make three meals in 30 minutes or less that are healthy and delicious – and sure to satisfy the whole family! About 20 residents
turned out for the event.

Sarah commented on the series speaking to the helpfulness of the lectures for making small, easy adjustments in your daily life. “What I am doing is giving people easy, simple tools – not to necessarily change their diet or health drastically – but to change it at least a little. I like helping people with things that are small, realistic and tangible.”

The series continues this month in February, with Sarah’s professional advice on how to make healthy eating decisions, even when it’s not easy. Because let’s face it: When we eat out, it’s easy to overdo it. Join Sarah on Saturday, February 13th for “Eating Healthy When Eating Out.” During this presentation, residents in attendance will learn how to make healthy choices no matter where you are dining without giving up flavor or the fun.

The new lectures aren’t the only new programs designed to promote health and wellness. Expanded health and wellness classes, brand new classes, new Twilight Farmer’s Markets and others come together to help further develop the community’s focus on ways to make healthy living easy; thus helping to create a better life for the people who live in it.
