Keeping the “Happy” in the Holidays!

The holiday season can be an exciting time, but it can also be stressful and overwhelming.

We’ve gathered some ways to help you keep the “happy” in your holidays.

Simplify – Between school functions, parties, religious services, and shopping for gifts, it’s easy to become overwhelmed this time of year. Simplifying the holidays is a great way to find some balance. Don’t overschedule, instead determine which events, traditions and activities are most important to you and your family. Allow yourself to say “no” and don’t feel bad that you can’t fit it all in.

Take time out for yourself– Remember to take time out for yourself and to take care of your body. Eat healthy, stay hydrated, and attend fitness/ yoga classes at Club Rancho Sahuarita. Meditation is also a great way to stay grounded and to help you relax.

Practice family traditions and make memories – Whether you are watching a Christmas movie, decorating the tree, baking cookies or attending Sahuarita’s Winter Festival and Holiday Light Parade, it’s important to keep traditions alive. Children look forward to these annual holiday traditions. They provide a sense of stability and an opportunity for families to enjoy some down time together during the holiday hustle and bustle.

Look for ways to help others and give back – Giving back always feels good and the holidays are the perfect time to teach children the importance of helping others. The annual Toys for Tots Drive and Pancakes with Santa Breakfast event, at Club Rancho Sahuarita, is the perfect opportunity for parents to show children the magic of giving back. Donate new, unwrapped toys for less fortunate children. All families in attendance, will be treated to a visit from Santa and a free pancake breakfast.

Choose happy– It’s easy to get frustrated in long lines, crowded stores and in busy traffic. Take a few slow, deep breathes. This will help you calm down and help you stay centered. Put on a smile, choose to be happy and focus on the positive. Plus, being happy can rub off on others so your joy will be contagious! This month’s coffee social features an “Ugly Sweater Contest” which is sure to bring a smile to everyone’s face and it’s a great time to come and share your joy with others.

We hope these tips help to keep your holidays merry and bright! The staff at Rancho Sahuarita wish you and your family a very “Happy” Holiday Season!
