October is Eventful(l)!

Each year, October is one of the busiest months for residents of the community and the team at Club Rancho Sahuarita. Between the regular monthly events like Story Time for Tots and the return of Coffee Socials, plus major events like the Sahuarita Spooktacular and Military Appreciation Barbecue, all the special happenings help to ensure that residents have lots of different ways to pass the time.

It all kicks off with special health and wellness-focused events, like the “I Can Cook” cooking event on Friday, October 7th. Join staff nutritionist Sarah Marrs to learn about shopping and cooking the season’s most popular veggies. The featured recipes will include baked acorn squash, sauteed radishes and a fall salad! The next weekend, the Fall Health and Wellness Day is happening from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., and will include a variety of special classes, food demos and more! (More information about these events is available on ActiveNet.)

Later in the month, highlights will include the Fall Festival for Families of Children with Special Needs, and the Dog Halloween Costume Contest, (which is always a big hit!) Residents are invited to dress their dogs up in their cutest costumes and join us at the Bark Park to compete for prizes, (large and small dogs will be judged in separate categories). Plus – your furry friends will receive a special treat bag to take home with them.

Then on October 29th from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. the Sahuarita Spooktacular returns for another year! Enjoy carnival games, a haunted house, and the very popular Trunk or Treat, with over 80 cars participating! Plus, this year you can have fun AND make a difference! Event participants are asked to bring canned food donations for the Sahuarita Food Bank to participate in the Trunk or Treat.

With the beauty of fall upon us and the season of gratitude with Thanksgiving right around the corner, it’s important to remember to be grateful for all the incredible people in our lives. This includes our members of the military, who serve and sacrifice for us each day. In honor of this, Rancho Sahuarita is proud to bring two special events geared towards celebrating their bravery. Every other Saturday, residents are invited to visit the Armed Forces Tribute for “Coffee with Warriors.” Come enjoy a quiet morning with members of the Armed Forces as they bond over memories, advice and shared experiences. It is truly special.

Then, on Saturday October 22nd, we invite you to attend a special Military Appreciation Barbecue. Those in attendance can enjoy family entertainment, (like jumping castles and a facepainter, activities and giveaways), music and lunch – cooked by team members of Rural/Metro Fire Department. This event will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Armed Forces Tribute, and it’s definitely not one to be missed! (This event is open to residents of the community and their guests.)

With all the events happening in October, the community is sure to kick fall off in Rancho Sahuarita in a big way!
